I need to find a new vacuum. What kind of vacuum does everyone have & are you happy with it?

I currently have an old Eureka Mighty Might canister. I don't have rugs, just all hard wood or tile floors. It has to be another canister style, since I'm in an apartment and don't have room for a big stand up vacuum. It goes without saying, it must be able to suck up dog hair.
