Are Aqua Clear Filters Good?

I was thinking about buying a Aqua Clear 50 or 70 for my 46 gallon tank. I have a canister filter but I HATE the hoses showing since my cabinet has no room for a filter underneath. I hear Aqueon sucks and Marineland's are loud. What you guys prefer? Also can I keep african drawf frogs with German blue rams?
